Hitachi Rail STS works to maintain the flora and fauna heritage unaltered and to preserve biodiversity in the areas adjacent to its plants. The only plant that results close a protected area, with a total surface of 40000 m2, is the one of Tito Scalo, in Italy, less than 3 km from a Regional Natural Reserve and Oasis of WWF, a Special Protection Area and a RAMSAR Area, where activities of manual and automated welding, as well as painting of circuit boards, are carried out.
The company has certified the area according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, as well as for all the other plants. Furthermore, Tito Scalo’s plant is the only one that has also been EMAS registered. For the purpose of preserving biodiversity, the activity carried out by Hitachi Rail STS is irrelevant and does not produce any kind of consequence.
